GM MDI or Tech 2 Which one should I choose

Looking for a  GM MDI interface or  Tech 2 Scanner and don’t know which one (original or clone) should you take? Here you go. Part 1: GM MDI or Tech 2 Part 2: Tech 2 original or clone? – How to find the original or fake. – worth to have a Tech 2 China clone? Part 3: GM MDI genuine or fake? – what’s the difference of MDI genuine & clone? – GM MDI china clone any good? Part 1: GM MDI or Tech 2 Tech 2 scan tool has become obsolete for shop use as of late. It still has a lot of capability and will do anything you need for the older platforms but it needs the CANdi module to work with any of the new stuff. The MDI is a 1 shot deal for all the newer PCMs and will still work on the older stuff too. I sold my Tech 2 and bought an MDI last year, haven’t missed the Tech 2 since. Then again I’ve got a Genysis scanner I use for all my typical diagnostics & probing. However, the MDI requires a GM log-in with monthly access to GM’s website. That’s it’s only draw b...

(Solved) GM Tech2 stopped in “Tech 2 post Ver 6.2”

My husband bought one of your tech 2 scanners . When we plug it in and turn it on it says system initializing. Then goes to a screen that says tech 2 post ver 6.2 if 10 items that say passed. It will not go out of this screen. I believe its not making connection with the card for the software. I do have pictures of what its doing, these are the only image the tool gives me. It does this with and without the card in it. I have also attached pictures of the inside of the device where the card goes and the card. I believe they are not making a connection with each other . Finally Solved!!! I found that the memory card had a couple of plugged holes. I tried opening they holes up and was also able to straighten the pins in the tech 2 device. I finally got the card to connect with the tech 2 correctly and now everything seems to be working. Thanks for your help. Thanks to this user, hope it helps.

How to get EVAP not ready IM to pass with Tech2

I’ve been struggling with this for months now and I came across a post of the Cadillac forum where someone mentioned using the GM Tech2 handheld scanner and running the “Evap service bay” test. First you will need the VCX Nano from obd2tool , it comes with the software for Tech2 and  GDS2 emulators and install it on a laptop. The Evap test should be done from a cold start so have everything ready. The reason I failed the Tech2 EVAP test first time was you must keep RPM between 1800-2200 for 8 minutes it was impossible to do that with foot so it failed and i had to wait overnight for a cold start. What i did to fix was I found a piece of wood and placed it between the seat and gas pedal and move the electric seat until RPM is 2000. This worked perfectly I used this when doing brake light testing for inspection as well. *   Have everything set up, I opened hood so it wouldn’t get too hot, connect the VCX Nano to the OBD2 port and your laptop and go to t...

How to Program Car Keys on L322

How do you code a key on a Range Rover L322 vehicle? Replacing a missing master key is quite expensive. Do not pay the extra cost of ‘Dealer Coding.’ You can do this yourself in two minutes by following the simple process below: 1. Get in and close all doors. Turn ignition on and off quickly and remove the key (all within about 5 seconds). 2. Within 30 seconds of turning the ignition off, while holding down the ‘unlock’ button, press the ‘lock’ button three times. Release the ‘unlock’ button. (You may or may not get the confirmation from the door locks.) Holding the key at your head level provides the best results as the key sensor is in the side window pillar. 3. Repeat for each key you want to initialize within 30 seconds after the last one you initialized (if you have Jaguar and Land Rover Diagnostic Tool ). 4. After confirming the last key, quickly put the key back in the ignition and turn it on/off again to finalize.
